Shopping in Sri Lanka is definately worthwhile! Firstly, a LOT of Name Brand Apparel is manufactured right here in Sri Lanka, and is sold in certain "factory outlets" for only a tiny fraction of the cost abroad! Secondly, Gems and Jewellry is mined and manufactured here, and therefore it is much, much cheaper The only thing to remember, is that with Jewellry shopping, one has to bargain the price down to almost 50% of the original asking price, and this also applies to most items at roadside shops and markets.
